THE KITCHEN BEFORE

We arrived on site and stripped the kitchen back to basics – bare plaster walls, exposed wiring, and a single tired sink unit clinging on beneath the window. The old dark slate floor tiles were being lifted, and colour swatches on the wall told the story of a homeowner who’d been planning this moment for a while. The space had real potential, but it needed someone to come in and do it properly. That’s where Acorn Installations came in.

WHAT WE DID

With a clean slate to work from, we set about building something special. The entire electrical layout was redesigned and chased into the fresh plasterwork, with new sockets positioned precisely for the new layout. We installed a full run of handleless matt grey cabinetry – sleek, modern, and beautifully proportioned – wrapping around the perimeter in an L-shape with a tall tower housing an integrated oven and microwave. The real centrepiece, though, is the island. We built it out into the room, topped with a stunning Calacatta-effect quartz worktop that runs continuously across the island and perimeter units alike. A gas hob sits flush into the island surface, with warm LED plinth lighting glowing beneath. After designing the kitchen, the sink was repositioned under the window and paired with a contemporary mixer tap. Overhead, two elegant pendant lights with marble and wood detailing drop above the island, and recessed spotlights were installed throughout the ceiling. The old tiles were replaced with a light wood-effect luxury vinyl floor that opens the room right up.

THE RESULT

The finished kitchen is genuinely stunning – airy, considered, and built to last. The island changes how the whole room is used, giving the family a space to cook, gather, and live around.
