THE KITCHEN BEFORE

This was a big project from the start. When we came on site, we had to get the space stripped. Bare carcasses dotted around a large open-plan room, wiring hanging from the ceiling, and the floor a patchwork of old tiles and dust sheets. The scale of the space was genuinely exciting, but it needed a serious amount of work before it could become the kitchen it deserved to be. The bones were good; everything else needed to be built from scratch.

WHAT WE DID

With all the electrical first-fix complete and the ceilings ready for spotlights, we got to work on what would become a really ambitious installation. We fitted a full run of shaker-style cabinetry in a warm sage-grey finish, wrapping around the perimeter of this large open-plan space and rising to full height with tall tower units housing integrated appliances, including a built-in microwave oven. The worktops throughout are a beautiful Carrara marble-effect quartz – laid continuously across the perimeter units, the chimney breast surround, and a generous island unit that anchors the centre of the room. The island itself features a contrasting deep navy base, creating a striking two-tone effect that gives the kitchen its real character. A sink was fitted into the island top, and a pendant light drops warmly above it. Recessed spotlights were installed throughout the ceiling, and the floor was finished in a wide-format wood-effect tile laid in an elegant herringbone pattern that adds real depth to the space.

THE RESULT

This is a showstopper of a kitchen – grand in scale but warm in feel, with every detail considered and every finish speaking for itself. It’s a space built for a family to really live in, cook in, and be proud of.
