THE KITCHEN BEFORE

When we first walked into this property in Tycoch, it was clear the space had seen better days. The walls were patchy and stripped back, with remnants of old tiling and paintwork telling the story of years gone by. The layout was tired and cramped, the kind of kitchen that had done its job over the years but was long overdue for a fresh start. There was a wall dividing the space that was seriously limiting its potential – and that had to go before anything else could begin.

WHAT WE DID

The first job was knocking through that dividing wall to open the space right up – no small undertaking, but absolutely worth it. With the structural work done, we stripped everything back to bare brick and plaster, relocated the boiler, and completely rewired and replumbed the space, ready for the new fit. We then installed a full suite of shaker-style cabinetry in a two-tone finish – soft light grey up top and a bold slate blue below – paired with crisp white composite worktops that tie the whole look together beautifully. A large range cooker with an integrated induction hob sits as the centrepiece, flanked by full-height storage units on either side. Warm under-cabinet lighting was run throughout, complemented by recessed ceiling spotlights. We finished the floor with a wood-effect luxury vinyl plank that’s as practical as it is good-looking.

THE RESULT

The finished kitchen is a proper transformation – bright, functional, and genuinely stylish. It’s the kind of space that makes cooking a pleasure rather than a chore. The homeowners now have a kitchen that works hard and looks great doing it. At Acorn Installations, that’s exactly the standard we hold ourselves to on every job we take on across Swansea and South Wales.
