THE KITCHEN BEFORE

This kitchen had been in place for a good while, and it showed. The cream, curved-door cabinets were a style from another era – ornate cornice detailing, open corner shelving, and a heavy, dark granite-effect worktop that dragged the whole room down visually. Large grey slate floor tiles made the space feel cold and dated, and while the recessed spotlights were a decent starting point, the overall feel was tired and in need of a serious rethink. The homeowners had clearly outgrown it, and with a wall coming down to open the space into the dining area, the opportunity for something genuinely special was right there.

WHAT WE DID

Once the adjoining wall was removed to open up the kitchen-diner, we stripped everything back and started fresh. We fitted a full suite of handleless gloss cabinetry in a warm cashmere finish – clean, contemporary, and a world away from what was there before. The worktops throughout are a dark sparkle quartz that catches the light beautifully, running along the perimeter units and wrapping around a brand new island, which sits centre-stage in the newly opened space. The sink was repositioned to sit under the window, paired with a sleek brushed chrome mixer tap. Under-cabinet lighting was installed to wash the worktops in a warm glow, and the ceiling was fitted with a fresh layout of recessed spotlights alongside three chrome pendant lights that hang dramatically above the island. The old slate tiles were replaced with a light wood-effect luxury vinyl floor that ties the kitchen and dining space together seamlessly.

THE RESULT

The transformation is total. What was once a closed-off, dated kitchen is now a bright, open, and genuinely elegant space that flows naturally into the dining area.
