THE KITCHEN BEFORE

When we arrived on site, this was a large, light-filled room with real potential – tall ceilings, generous proportions, and a pair of beautiful sash windows flooding the space with natural light. The carcasses were already positioned, and the spotlights were in, but beyond that, it was a blank canvas. Flat-pack units sat in rows across the floor, still in their packaging, and the room had that particular kind of controlled chaos that only exists at the start of a big job. The bones were exceptional. Now it needed the craftsmanship to match.

WHAT WE DID

We took our time with this one because a kitchen of this scale and quality deserves it. Working across the full perimeter of the room, we fitted a comprehensive run of in-frame shaker cabinetry in a classic soft white, complete with traditional cornice detailing that suits the period character of the property beautifully. The cabinetry wraps around the room and rises to full height in places, maximising every inch of storage. A large central island was built with matching painted doors and round knob hardware throughout, topped with a thick white quartz worktop that runs seamlessly across both the island and perimeter units. A butler-style sink was positioned under the window and fitted with a traditional black mixer tap. Under-cabinet lighting was installed to illuminate the worktops, and the existing recessed spotlights were retained and extended. Integrated appliances were fitted neatly into the cabinetry, keeping the overall look clean and uncluttered.

THE RESULT

The finished kitchen is everything this room deserved to be – elegant, timeless, and built to the highest standard. It’s a proper family kitchen that works as hard as it looks good, with the island drawing everyone in naturally.
