THE KITCHEN BEFORE

This was a well-used family kitchen that had clearly been the heart of the home for many years – and you could tell. Cream flat-pack cabinets, a dark laminate worktop, and a freestanding range cooker sitting slightly out of place told the story of a space that had been patched and added to over time rather than properly planned. The flooring was tired, the layout disjointed, and the boiler mounted awkwardly on the wall above the units. Kitchen design printouts spread across the dining table said it all – the family knew exactly what they wanted, and they’d been waiting for the right team to make it happen.

WHAT WE DID

We stripped the kitchen back completely and started with a proper plan. The boiler was relocated, and the entire space was rewired to suit the new layout, which opened up significantly to create a far more generous, sociable kitchen. We fitted a full suite of in-frame shaker cabinetry in a soft, warm grey, running along two walls with a beautifully crafted curved island as the centrepiece – its rounded ends and tongue-and-groove panelled sides giving it a real bespoke quality. Throughout, the worktops are a dramatic dark granite with natural veining that adds depth and gravitas to the space. A professional-style stainless steel range cooker was installed beneath a large chimney extractor, with a matching granite splashback behind it. Under-cabinet lighting runs the full length of the perimeter units, and warm LED plinth lighting glows beneath the island. Three industrial-style pendant lights hang above the island on black chain drops, and recessed spotlights complete the ceiling. The floor was finished in large natural stone-effect tiles that ground the whole scheme beautifully.

This is a kitchen that genuinely takes your breath away when you walk into it.
